Youth work is the intentional practice of engaging young people in ways that inspire, challenge, and empower them. Rather than a fixed discipline, it is a dynamic and evolving field—shaped, reshaped, and reimagined by each generation. Its methods and practices are continually rewritten to respond to the realities young people face. At its core, youth work seeks to connect young people with society, encouraging social change and influencing policy within an unequal landscape. Through this process, young people are supported to develop positively and to become active contributors to their communities.

My own youth work journey has taken place in some of the most deprived areas of Leicester and Barnet, North London. I have successfully secured funding and led a range of creative and developmental projects, including music production, photography, digital art, outdoor learning, and residential experiences. These projects have provided young people with spaces to express themselves, build confidence, and discover new skills.

I have worked closely with young people facing complex challenges, including homelessness, involvement with the criminal justice system, substance misuse, social exclusion, and those often labelled as “hard to reach.” Alongside this, I have collaborated with partner organisations and motivated young people to deliver projects that have made a positive impact within their local communities. Underpinning all of my work is a strong commitment to community wellbeing, inclusion, and social justice.

The foundation of every state is the education of it's youth
